Do you want to live a fulfilling life in harmony with who you are? We reveal 4 essential steps to fully understand and apply the principles of Bagua at home like a Feng Shui Pro!

Bagua is one of the most powerful tools in Feng Shui, which will help you improve your general well-being and that of your loved ones. Come on, let's go for the Feng ShualiTips ✨👇🏻

Feng ShualiTip 01: Understanding the Bagua

Before using the Bagua, it is essential to understand its origins. So what is Bagua?

Bagua means the eight trigrams in Chinese. These eight trigrams (also called the eight Guas) represent the eight natural phenomena: sky, earth, thunder, wind, water, fire, mountain and lake. Designed for millennia in China, it was founded from a deep observation and understanding of nature.

It is one of the main tools used in Feng Shui because it represents the energy map of any given space.

Each of the eight trigrams represents a category that we must experience during the course of our life such as career, health, love, our wealth, which are associated with the eight natural phenomena, listed above.

Feng ShualiTip 02: Define your 9 sectors of life or your 9 Guas

As we mentioned above, the Bagua is divided into 8 trigrams. These trigrams represent the fundamental principles of our passage on Earth and indicate the different categories that we must experience in this life. There is a ninth category (Gua) which represents the balance of all the trigrams together: The Gua 5.

You will find the 9 categories below:

Gua 1 - Career and Life Mission

Gua 2 - Love and relationship

Gua 3 - Family and health

Gua 4 - Abundance and prosperity

Gua 5 - Harmony and inner peace

Gua 6 - Spirituality and travel

Gua 7 - Creativity and children

Gua 8 - Wisdom and knowledge

Gua 9 - Fame and reputation

Now is the time to find out what a Bagua looks like! It can be represented either with a rectangular or octagonal shape:

Each sector of life is located in a direction and a sector in particular which can be activated by its element (Water, Wood, Earth, Fire or Metal), its animal, its season, its color, and its shape. The Bagua is the energy map of your place that will allow you to assess, improve and enrich all aspects of your life.

Before understanding how to activate these 9 categories, it is essential that you take a moment to think about what these categories represent for you? For example, what does your ideal career look like? What romantic relationship do you want to attract or improve in your life? Where do you see yourself traveling? To live in? And why is this important to you? Take a sheet of paper and start writing what comes to mind.

Feng ShualiTip 03: Apply the Bagua in your home

Applying the Bagua in your home is like making a visualization board but in 3 dimensions since it is applied directly in your space. In modern and Western Feng Shui, it is important to do this visualization work so that you can properly direct energy into matter. Your habitat will have an impact on your subconscious and vice versa. Indeed, the placement of each element of your place will direct your mind where it is needed. This work remains unique and specific to everyone.

Here are 3 simple steps to apply the Bagua at home:

• Obtain a 2D floor plan of your home or one of your rooms, or draw the plan as faithful as possible.

• Take a compass, note the cardinal directions, and mark them on your house plan. You can check your measurements on apps like Google Earth.

Superimpose one of the two Bagua on top of your map, respecting the directions in order to know the locations of each sector.

Example:

If I want to activate your career (Gua 1- North), I will place more Water element in the North sector of my house by placing, for example, an aquarium or a fountain (water). After your visualization work in the previous step, you can also place an image or object of what your ideal career represents. This work in consciousness facilitates the energy to be placed in you and therefore in you (in your unconscious).

Symmetric plan shapes (square, round, rectangle…) are ideal for this exercise. For plans with complex shapes, we recommend that you contact a Feng Shui expert to ensure a good Bagua analysis. You can also apply the Bagua in one of your rooms to start.

Feng ShualiTip 04: Let go and let the energy flow

After those steps, don't forget to congratulate yourself on the great job you have done! This analysis takes discipline and can take some time.

Now that you have cleared your intentions, visualized your ideal life, and applied all of this to your living space through the Bagua energy map, you can relax and let the energy flow and do its work. There is no specific time for the energy to activate, it will depend on each individual. There are people where changes happen after a few days and others a few weeks.
