All about the Water Tiger Year
Happy Chinese New Year! 🧧 Today we celebrate this holiday however, did you know that it is not on February 01 that the Water Tiger energy begins? In fact, we rely on the Chinese solar calendar to determine the beginning of the year of the Water Tiger which begins exactly on February 4 at 4:51 am.
The Chinese New Year holiday is based on the lunar calendar while the date of the solar new year is based on the solar calendar. The Chinese people use 3 different calendars: Solar, Lunar and Gregorian. These three calendars are integrated into the same calendar which in Chinese is called the “Tong Sheng” calendar.
We are now going to explain the new energies of this Tiger Water Year through a brief Ba Zi analysis (Chinese astrology) and the study of the annual flying stars (traditional Feng Shui). But before that, let us tell you the origins of the Chinese New Year celebration.
Origin and Story of the Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is the most important holiday in China. This date is celebrated each year on the second new moon of the winter solstice. The origin of this festival dates back approximately 3,500 years and has evolved over a long period of time.
Like all traditional holidays in China, Chinese New Year is steeped in stories and myths. One of the most popular concerns the mythical beast Nian (/nyen/), which ate cattle, crops and even people on the eve of a new year. To prevent Nian from attacking people and causing destruction, people put food on their doorsteps for Nian.
It is said that a wise old man understood that Nian was afraid of loud noises (firecrackers) and the color red. So people put lanterns and red scrolls on their windows and doors to keep Nian out, and cracked bamboo (later replaced by firecrackers) to scare Nian away. The monster never showed up again.
Interesting story, no? 😃 Now that you know the origins of this holiday, we are going to explain to you the Tiger energy of this upcoming year.

Let’s now talk about the Flying Stars of the upcoming year✨
But what is a study of flying stars in Feng Shui?
It is the most sophisticated traditional Chinese technique for doing Feng Shui. This school study the movement of the planets in relation to our own. Remember that planets are stars, that is why we call this technique the study of flying stars! This technique analyses the dimension of time and space, which we do not find when we study modern and Western Feng Shui. And since the planets are constantly moving through space, the vibrations of our spaces move as well. We must therefore re-align ourselves with the favorable energies of the new year. This is the art and beauty of Feng Shui!
